Call It What You Want

Music runs through my mind a lot, but if it's not the music aspect of it, I'm focused on the image and cultural events it has bestowed upon our lives...and shit.

A bone I'd like to pick right about now, classification. A big pet peeve of mine is the phrase "Glam Rock". The word glam has absolutely nothing to do with the music itself, but how the bands/artists dress. They could rock out like Def Leopard, but if they wear make-up...BLAOW!!! GLAM ROCK!

I don't know if any artists under this genre dislike the label...personally, I find it unfair.

(I don't really know what went through his head when he donned this image..)

(...or this one.)

Boy George was considered Pop with Glam influences...yet he wasn't classified as Glam.......he's the "Glammiest" piece of work I have ever seen.

(Queen)
No make-up? So....why were they considered Glam? My guess is because the lead singer was an open homosexual......people can be as cruel as school children. They still shitted on most of the contemporary artists.

(David Bowie)
If you look up "androgyny", you will find a picture of this character. What made him Glam?...................................................Look at him.

(KISS)
These cats have made some fuckin' classic joints, but they are way overlooked because of what they look like. I guess their music wouldn't have the same impact without the crazy image....

Another pet peeve about sub-genres, Hipster-Hop. I'm guessing it has a little to do with the content of the music, rapping about bicycles, skateboards, and iPhones.

(The best Hipster-Hoppers.)

(A horrible imitation.)

In conclusion..............

Classification is what happens when folks try to keep you down. They find you too good or something, and attempt to hide your talents in the underbelly of your genre....

Sad......
